Aeralis Prestwick will bring modular jet production to Prestwick International Airport in Ayrshire, Scotland.
British aerospace company Aeralis has selected Prestwick International Airport as the production base for its modular jet after securing recent funding and UK government support. The design is built to serve both military and commercial flight‑training markets with a configurable airframe.
The decision is aimed at strengthening UK aerospace manufacturing and creating skilled jobs across Ayrshire and nearby supply chains. Aeralis says a production ramp‑up is expected to begin in late 2025.
Modular aircraft let manufacturers swap mission‑specific components — for example, trainer cockpits or mission systems — without redesigning the whole airframe. That flexibility helps manufacturers serve dual markets and can reduce lifecycle costs for operators.
While Aeralis has not disclosed specific model names or production volumes yet, the Prestwick move is a clear signal that the UK intends to host next‑generation aircraft development and manufacturing. For Prestwick, the announcement positions the airport as a growing hub for aviation technology and training solutions.
