American Airlines regional jets are getting cabin refreshes and Wi‑Fi, and the carrier will add a daily Phoenix (PHX)–Anchorage (ANC) A321neo route beginning May 21, 2026.
American Airlines (AA / AAL) said it will upgrade its regional jet fleet with new cabin interiors, power outlets at every seat and onboard Wi‑Fi by early 2026 to make the regional experience closer to its mainline product.
The airline did not specify individual regional models but confirmed the improvements will roll out systemwide on American’s regional-operated flights ahead of the summer 2026 travel season. The upgrades aim to deliver consistent amenities — think device charging and reliable internet — for customers moving between regional and mainline flights.
Separately, American announced network growth with a new seasonal daily service linking Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) and Ted Stevens Anchorage International (ANC). The carrier will operate the route using the Airbus A321neo starting on May 21, 2026, targeting higher summer demand to and from Alaska.
American framed the dual announcements as a customer-experience and network strategy: improved inflight amenities on regional aircraft reduce gaps between short-haul and mainline service, while the Phoenix–Anchorage route expands domestic connectivity for summer leisure and visitations.
Passengers should see the regional cabin changes in phases through early 2026, and the Phoenix–Anchorage A321neo flights will appear in schedules and booking systems ahead of the May 21 launch date. American’s move reflects broader industry trends of aligning regional cabins with mainline standards and using efficient narrowbodies like the A321neo for longer domestic sectors.
