Lufthansa has started a direct Munich–Boston route for winter 2025, flying five times weekly with the Airbus A350-900.
Lufthansa (IATA: LH, ICAO: DLH) began the new Munich–Boston route as part of its winter 2025 schedule, deploying Airbus A350-900 widebodies on the service. The inaugural service departed Munich (MUC) at 10:15 local time and touched down in Boston (BOS) at 13:05 Eastern Standard Time (EST), offering a direct connection between Bavaria and the US Northeast.
The route is aimed at both business and leisure travelers, promising enhanced cabin comfort and sustainability features typical of the A350-900. Lufthansa highlights improved passenger experience and hopes the link will lift passenger volumes between Germany and New England during the winter season.
Operating five weekly rotations, the new service supplements Lufthansa’s existing transatlantic network and creates more options for onward connections from Munich across Europe. The airline is positioning the route to capture corporate traffic as well as leisure demand for Boston’s tech, education and tourism markets.
Onboard, passengers can expect the A350-900’s quieter cabin, modern in-flight entertainment and fuel-efficient engines that support Lufthansa’s sustainability messaging for new routes. The aircraft choice also allows the carrier to match capacity with seasonal demand while offering a long-range twin-engine product suited to transatlantic sectors.
Expect route frequency and schedule adjustments as the season progresses; new services like this often evolve based on demand patterns and commercial performance. For travelers, the new Munich–Boston option adds a convenient non-stop alternative to connecting itineraries via other European hubs.
