R2S Wins $1.25B Tamir missile production Deal

R2S will build the first U.S. all-up-round production site for Tamir and SkyHunter interceptors.

On November 21, 2025, Raytheon–Rafael joint venture R2S won a $1.25 billion contract to establish Tamir missile production and SkyHunter assembly at a new facility in Camden, Arkansas.

The contract creates the first U.S.-based all-up-round manufacturing line for the Tamir interceptor (used in Iron Dome) and SkyHunter air-defense interceptors. R2S is the joint venture between Raytheon (RTX) and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, combining U.S. industrial scale with Rafael’s interceptor designs.

Why Tamir missile production matters

Domestic production reduces supply-chain risk for U.S. forces and NATO partners and shortens delivery timelines for allied air-defense needs. RTX has framed the deal as a strategic investment in allied resilience, enabling sustained supplies of interceptors that protect civilian areas and military assets.

  • Key points: $1.25B contract, Camden, Arkansas — Tamir missile production and SkyHunter assembly.
  • First U.S. all-up-round production site for Tamir and SkyHunter interceptors.
  • R2S JV: Raytheon (RTX) + Rafael Advanced Defense Systems — strengthens NATO and partner supply chains.

Industry watchers note that moving all-up-round work onshore signals a broader shift toward localized missile manufacturing for critical air-defense systems. The Tamir interceptor, integral to Israel’s Iron Dome system, and the SkyHunter family have seen growing international interest as nations invest in layered air defenses.

The Camden facility will serve both U.S. requirements and allied deliveries, according to the companies involved. While the contract value and location are public, the firms have not released production rates or employment figures; further details are expected as construction and ramp-up proceed.
