Delta and Alaska are betting on AI to make flying more personal and frictionless.
At APEX Tech 2025 in Los Angeles, Delta Air Lines (IATA: DL, ICAO: DAL) and Alaska Airlines (IATA: AS, ICAO: ASA) rolled out new platforms designed to upgrade the AI passenger experience onboard and across mobile apps.
Delta introduced Delta Sync, a next‑generation inflight entertainment and connectivity platform that lets SkyMiles members access personalized content without subscriptions or entering credit card details. The airline highlighted tighter integration between onboard Wi‑Fi, passenger profiles and real‑time content recommendations.
Alaska Airlines detailed a unified digital platform that uses AI for personalization and loyalty across its Alaska and Hawaiian operations. The carrier said the system aims to create a predictive, seamless passenger experience by 2030, linking preferences and loyalty data across app, check‑in and inflight touchpoints.
Both announcements point to a broader industry shift toward data‑driven personalization, real‑time connectivity and integrated loyalty programs. Attendees at APEX Tech saw demos of recommendation engines, targeted retail offers and crew tools surfacing passenger preferences for faster service.
Airlines say these platforms should boost passenger satisfaction and operational efficiency, but rollout timing and partner details remain limited after the APEX Tech briefings. Expect phased deployments and additional vendor announcements in the coming months as carriers test pilot programs and scale features.
