Belgrade Airport expansion: Terminal upgrade begins

Belgrade Airport expansion has officially entered preparatory works under Vinci Airports.

Vinci Airports, the operator of Belgrade Airport, has kicked off preparatory work on a targeted terminal expansion that will add 57,695 square feet, three new gates and four parking positions for narrowbody aircraft. The package also includes four new moving walkways designed to speed passenger flows and reduce transfer times.

What the Belgrade Airport expansion delivers

The project is scheduled to run for 13 months and will increase the airport’s total gate count to 36. Vinci projects the upgrade will support passenger growth and contribute to an estimated 8% revenue increase for 2025. The work focuses on capacity and operational efficiency rather than major runway or apron changes.

Construction will be staged to limit disruption to daily operations. Airport and operator statements describe the programme as part of a broader regional plan to improve capacity and the passenger experience at the hub, while retaining short turnaround capability for narrowbody fleets.

  • Belgrade Airport expansion adds 57,695 sq ft, three gates and four narrowbody parking positions.
  • Four new moving walkways to improve circulation and connecting times.
  • 13-month programme designed to raise total gates to 36 and support 2025 revenue growth (+8%).

For travellers, the most visible changes will be more boarding options and faster connections inside the terminal. For airlines and ground handlers, the four added narrowbody stands should help smooth peak operations by offering more simultaneous turnaround capacity.

Vinci Airports remains the named operator overseeing delivery and phasing. The company says the upgrade is aimed at aligning Belgrade with rising regional demand while keeping daily operations stable during construction. Exact timelines for individual works and temporary gate reassignments will be published by the airport as the project advances.
