Deutsche Aircraft has taken delivery of the first Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127XT-S engines to power its new D328eco regional turboprop.
The PW127XT-S engine, produced by Pratt & Whitney Canada in Quebec, arrives as a purpose-built powerplant for the D328eco. Deutsche Aircraft says the engine brings greater durability, reduced maintenance needs and lower lifecycle costs — key selling points for regional operators serving short, remote and northern European routes.
The D328eco is being positioned as a short‑field regional jet alternative with turboprop efficiency for thin routes and austere fields. While Deutsche Aircraft has focused on airframe and operational economics, the PW127XT-S is central to meeting those promises by improving dispatch reliability and lowering operating expenses.
Deutsche Aircraft’s rollout of the PW127XT-S aligns with broader demand for regional aircraft that combine low operating cost with the ability to operate from shorter runways. Operators in Scandinavia and other northern regions have cited similar requirements when selecting equipment for thin, weather-challenged routes.
The arrival of these first engines marks a manufacturing milestone for the D328eco programme and sets the stage for integration and flight testing as Deutsche Aircraft progresses toward certification and entry‑into‑service planning.
