Apple and Air Canada are turning the digital boarding pass into a living travel hub on your iPhone.
Announced after Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025, the partnership between Apple and Air Canada (IATA: AC, ICAO: ACA) brings live flight updates, terminal maps and baggage tracking directly into Apple Wallet and onto the iPhone lock screen. The move aims to streamline the passenger journey and make key trip info easier to access for North American flyers.
The update will let travellers see real-time gate changes, departure times and on-screen terminal wayfinding without having to unlock their phone or open third-party apps. Air Canada says the integration is intended to reduce stress during tight connections and give passengers a single, persistent place for essential travel alerts.
While Apple handled the Wallet-side features announced at WWDC (June 2025), Air Canada will connect its operational feeds so baggage status and flight telemetry appear in the same card. The announcement positions the two companies to set a new standard for mobile travel tools across airports in Canada and the United States.
The user experience is designed to be low-friction: a single tap on the Wallet card can provide maps to gates, push updates for delays, and a quick view of checked-bag progress. Apple Wallet’s secure framework keeps personal data private, and Air Canada will manage the airline-side data feeds to ensure accuracy. Specific rollout timing, airports and device requirements were described at WWDC but may vary by market and carrier systems.
This collaboration reflects a broader shift in aviation tech, where airlines and platform providers move to consolidate passenger touchpoints and cut down app-jumping. For travellers, that could mean fewer surprises at the gate and a clearer, more connected journey from curb to cabin.
