GE Aerospace and Poland’s WZL‑2 signed a memorandum on October 31, 2025, to explore joint MRO efforts that support Poland’s military aviation and wider NATO readiness.
On October 31, 2025, GE Aerospace and Military Aviation Works No. 2 (WZL‑2) in Warsaw signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore joint development of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for Poland’s military aviation sector. The agreement frames deeper industrial cooperation between a US-based aerospace supplier and a key Polish military maintenance operator.
The MoU is designed to strengthen US–Poland defense-industry ties while improving sustainment capacity on NATO’s eastern flank. WZL‑2 (Military Aviation Works No. 2) brings local infrastructure and experience working with Polish air arms; GE Aerospace contributes technology, engineering practices, and global supply-chain access. Together they aim to make maintenance cycles faster and more locally resilient.
Details in the MoU are exploratory rather than contractual: it focuses on technical cooperation, workforce training, and capability assessments rather than specific engine or airframe programs. That means no new aircraft purchases were announced, and no flight or aircraft serial details were released at signing.
Strategically, the move aligns with broader NATO priorities of improving regional sustainment so allied aircraft can operate longer and with more predictable support. For Poland, expanding domestic MRO capacity reduces dependence on distant suppliers and shortens repair turnaround times for military fleets. For GE Aerospace, the partnership is a foothold for defense aftermarket services in Central Europe.
The memorandum marks a practical step toward industrial interoperability between a major US supplier and Polish defense infrastructure. Observers will watch whether the exploratory work converts into formal contracts, specific platform support, or long-term joint facilities in Poland.
