Honeywell, ITP Aero Open F124 Engine MRO Hub

Honeywell and ITP Aero have launched Europe’s first dedicated F124 engine MRO hub in Madrid to support military fleets across the region.

The new facility in Madrid is focused on maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for the Honeywell F124-GA-200 turbofan. Operated in partnership by Honeywell and Spain’s ITP Aero, the hub aims to shorten downtime for military operators and keep mission-critical engines closer to home.

Located in Spain’s capital region, the site positions Madrid as a growing center for aerospace support. The hub will serve European military aviation fleets, offering specialised inspections, component repairs, and overhaul capabilities tailored to the F124 series.

F124 engine MRO: what it delivers

By concentrating expertise and parts inventory at a dedicated centre, Honeywell and ITP Aero expect faster turnarounds and improved logistics for customers across Europe. The partnership leverages Honeywell’s engine technology and ITP Aero’s local maintenance experience to provide a one-stop solution for operators flying aircraft powered by the F124-GA-200.

  • Reduced AOG time for F124 engine MRO through localised repairs and parts availability
  • Enhanced technical support and tailored overhaul workflows for military customers
  • Strengthened Spanish aerospace capability and skilled jobs in MRO roles

The hub also underscores a broader trend: defence operators increasingly rely on regionalised maintenance networks to improve readiness and lifecycle management. While Honeywell provides the F124 design and technical oversight, ITP Aero brings hands-on maintenance capacity and local regulatory know-how.

For operators, the practical benefits are straightforward: fewer long ferry flights for engines, lower logistics costs, and faster returns to service. For Spain, the facility reinforces the country’s footprint in defence aviation maintenance and supports domestic supply-chain resilience.
