IndiGo & AEGEAN Launch A321XLR India–Greece Flights

IndiGo and AEGEAN are introducing the first direct India–Greece services using the Airbus A321XLR.

Under a new codeshare announced for 2026, IndiGo AEGEAN A321XLR services will open non-stop links between India and Greece for the first time. The partnership leverages the A321XLR’s extended range to reach Athens from India without intermediate stops, expanding options for leisure and business travelers between South Asia and Europe.

IndiGo plans to operate six weekly flights to Athens starting in January 2026, while Greece’s flag carrier AEGEAN will launch five weekly services to Delhi in March 2026 and three weekly services to Mumbai the same month. These scheduled frequencies mark a meaningful ramp-up of direct connectivity and reflect growing demand for tourism and trade between the two regions.

Why IndiGo AEGEAN A321XLR matters

The Airbus A321XLR (extra‑long range variant of the A320 family) gives narrowbody aircraft transcontinental reach with better fuel efficiency than older long‑haul types. That efficiency makes new direct routes commercially viable, enabling airlines like IndiGo (6E/IATA) and AEGEAN (A3/IATA) to add nonstop services without committing larger widebody jets.

  • Key launches: IndiGo six weekly Athens flights from January 2026; AEGEAN five weekly Delhi and three weekly Mumbai services from March 2026 — all part of the IndiGo AEGEAN A321XLR codeshare.

For passengers, the codeshare should simplify bookings and offer more seamless connections across each carrier’s networks. Tour operators and exporters can also expect smoother logistics as flight options increase between Athens and major Indian hubs. The move highlights how modern single-aisle, long-range jets are reshaping route maps and making new point-to-point markets attainable.

Regulatory approvals, final schedules and fare details will be published by the airlines ahead of the launches; travelers should watch both carriers’ websites and booking channels for confirmed timetables and codeshare flight numbers. Overall, the agreement signals a step-change in India–Greece connectivity and underscores the A321XLR’s role in opening new long-distance routes.
