Lufthansa launches a new direct Munich–Montreal A350 service to meet rising transatlantic demand.
Lufthansa (LH / DLH) has inaugurated a new Munich–Montreal A350 route, with the first Airbus A350-900 departure on November 8, 2025. The service links Munich Airport (MUC) and Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and will operate five times weekly, targeting both business and leisure travellers.
The airline will deploy its fuel-efficient A350-900 on the route, offering passengers a modern cabin experience on long-haul sectors. The Munich–Montreal A350 route expands Lufthansa’s North American footprint and provides a direct connection for travellers between Bavaria and Quebec without a transfer in Frankfurt.
Flights are timed to capture mixed demand—weekday business traffic and weekend leisure flows—while the A350-900’s range and passenger comfort make it a natural fit. Lufthansa’s operation uses Munich as a strategic long-haul gateway, and the schedule adds frequency to the carrier’s transatlantic network.
Travelers flying the new route can expect standard Lufthansa product offerings and connectivity to the carrier’s wider European network via MUC. The move also responds to observed demand growth between Germany and Canada and gives Montreal another direct link to continental Europe.
Operationally, the A350-900 is noted for lower fuel burn and quieter cabins, features that matter on overnight and daytime transatlantic sectors. While specific flight numbers were not announced, the route is a clear reinforcement of Lufthansa’s North American strategy, using Munich as a primary hub alongside Frankfurt.
For passengers, the direct service reduces total travel time compared with one-stop options and simplifies transfers for onward connections in both directions. Expect seat, baggage, and onboard service policies to follow standard Lufthansa terms for long-haul flights.
