Lufthansa launches Munich–Seattle route

Lufthansa has kicked off a new nonstop Munich–Seattle route to strengthen its US network and move more passengers and freight across the Atlantic.

On October 8, 2025, Lufthansa (IATA: LH, ICAO: DLH) started scheduled nonstop service between Munich Airport (MUC) and Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA) using Airbus A350-900 widebodies. The Munich–Seattle route launches with five weekly rotations and targets both business and leisure travelers seeking a direct transatlantic option.

The first flight departed Munich at 15:30 local time and arrived in Seattle at 17:05 local time, reflecting typical westbound scheduling that maximizes daytime arrival in the US. The A350-900 offers improved fuel efficiency and cargo capability, which Lufthansa expects will increase belly cargo capacity on the route as well as seat capacity for passengers.

What the Munich–Seattle route means

Adding SEA to Lufthansa’s Munich network expands connectivity from southern Germany to the US West Coast and feeds onward connections across Lufthansa’s hub. With five weekly frequencies, the route is positioned to capture demand from tech, corporate, and leisure markets linking Bavaria and the Pacific Northwest.

Operationally, the A350’s range and payload make it well suited for transatlantic sector planning; the new service complements Lufthansa’s existing US offerings and gives travelers an alternative to flying via Frankfurt or other gateways. Passengers should notice modern cabin products and the airline’s long-haul service standards on board.

For Seattle, the route strengthens ties to Europe and creates additional cargo lift and inbound tourism potential. For Munich and Bavaria it provides a direct link to one of the US’s major technology and trade hubs, potentially boosting business travel and bilateral commerce.
