Turkish Airlines Boeing 787 deal signals a major fleet push announced September 26, 2025.
On September 26, 2025, Turkish Airlines confirmed a headline-grabbing agreement with Boeing that includes a package tied to the Turkish Airlines Boeing 787 family. The carrier said the transaction covers a firm order reported as 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners — listed as 35 787-9s and 15 787-10s — plus options for 25 additional 787s, alongside intentions to buy up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX single-aisle jets.
The airline framed the deal as a central part of an expansion plan to grow its fleet to 800 aircraft by 2033. Boeing and Turkish officials also highlighted economic impacts: Boeing estimated the agreement would support U.S. aerospace jobs — a figure the companies say exceeds 123,000 positions tied to production and supply chains.
Deliveries of long-range 787 Dreamliners are expected to increase capacity and improve fuel efficiency on busy trunk routes from Istanbul to Europe, North America and Asia. The 787-9 and 787-10 variants are aimed at medium- and long-haul markets where lower fuel burn and higher seat-mile economics matter for network growth.
For passengers, the move could mean more nonstop choices from Istanbul Airport and fresher cabin products as new Dreamliners enter service. For the industry, the combination of widebody 787s and a large single-aisle MAX buy marks one of the sector’s biggest fleet commitments in recent years and underscores Turkish Airlines’ intent to accelerate global connectivity.
