Viasat-3 Flight 2 (Viasat-3 F2) has arrived at Cape Canaveral ahead of a late‑October launch.
Viasat’s ultra-high-capacity satellite, ViaSat-3 Flight 2 (Viasat-3 F2), arrived at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on September 30 after a cross-country ferry from Los Angeles aboard an Antonov AN-124 cargo aircraft. The Boeing-built spacecraft was transported inside a climate-controlled container to preserve its sensitive payload and electronics.
Teams from Viasat, Boeing and United Launch Alliance (ULA) have moved the satellite into final processing at Cape Canaveral, where technicians will complete prelaunch checkouts. The mission is scheduled to lift on an Atlas V 551 rocket in late October, with launch preparations focused on fueling, integrated testing and payload-to-launch vehicle fit checks.
The ViaSat-3 series is designed to expand global broadband capacity for commercial, consumer and defense aviation markets, delivering faster in-flight connectivity and wider coverage. Operators are prioritizing satellites like Viasat-3 F2 to meet rising demand for streaming, real-time logistics and secure military comms on aircraft across multiple continents.
Ground crews will now complete environmental tests, battery conditioning and the encapsulation sequence ahead of rollout to the Atlas V at the vertical integration facility. Once integrated, the stack will undergo final launch rehearsals and range checks before a window opens in late October.
For passengers and airlines, Viasat-3 F2 represents another step toward consistent high-speed connectivity in the sky. For defense users, the satellite enhances redundant, high-throughput communications options for operations and exercises.
